Friends

We make friends at various stages of life. I have new friends when I moved back to my own flats in 2008.

When I fetched my daughter to school then and adjourned my journey to the Botanic Garden, I joined an exercise group and I met up friend who later connected  me to other group - very relevant as far as my health was concerned. I learnt chi gong and that took me through many years.  Now I have taken to new life style of exercise daily in the morning - which somehow become quite indispensable. When I do brisk walking at the Pek Kio walking track, the 10 -20 regulars there had become my friends- unspoken lot of comrade. A simple greeting in the morning rejuvenate us.

P Mei is an interesting person. We can talk non-stop throughout the 3 km rounds we brisk walk together whenever she is not going to school to do her temp teaching. Things under the sun and from A- Z is our topics. I shared my joys and grievances with her. Likewise, she voiced her feelings on her vocation.

On reflections, my friends in primary schools are no longer to be had. My companions in secondary schools are no longer contactable unless great efforts are made. Other friends have their own personal life. Life are energy sagging nowadays. My brisk walking in the morning is a mean to replenish a great amount of oxygen that last me throughout the day. I feel lethargic if I do not carry out my routine.

I feel good in the walk as I feel I have connected to the nature. What more exercise in the morning with empty stomach reaps great benefits.
